Welcome to NNF1 2011
Well from Malaysia onwards anyway....There has of course been a bit of activity in the East and while the May 1st deadline for the "postponed" Bahrain GP looms there is serious doubt that it will be run this year. Mercedes has some experience with armor plating etc having being the transport of choice for the odd president and dictator here and there but the rest of the grid may be at a disadvantage from Abdul Sniperjihady. It (Boorain) has been completely tiresome in the past anyway and just about as senseless as the Abu Dhabi GP. Nothing against the chaps over there of course, striving as they are to build F1 class circuits but why bother us with attempting to stage an F1 race? Have the circuits, race your brightly coloured Lambo's and Zonda's but leave F1 out of it.
We all know the home of F1 is in Europe and everybody (except Bernie) is happy for there to be lotsa GP's in Europe). Dune buggy racing - THATS what you guys (in the sand dunes) should concentrate on.....Did I mention that Bahrain is a very boring circuit, once the grid is established you may as well write the race order as well. The cars get very strung out and then you fall asleep in front of the telly and wonder what happened. Just like HRT. Horrible.
So you think Abu Dhabi is spectacular? Well it is isn't - good to look at but lets see, we've got trillions to spend on a circuit so lets design and build a circuit where no one can pass, that will spice things up...The marina looks nice.
Meanwhile Bernie, there's a perfectly good race circuit in Southern Africa surrounded but thousands of motorsport fans, not camel smoking jockeys. They love motorsport in ZA, seriously.
It looks like we will be getting a race in the States again. This is good news, Austin, Texas is the location and it seems there is genuine interest in it already. Indianapolis was and is NASCAR country and so it should stay that way. Thank goodness it has gone. It's like mixing Bundy with Moet. Of course F1 is superior. Don't ask. The ONLY motorsport that can vaguely compare is kart racing.
Oh, Bernie while we're on the subject, I think Iceland needs a GP. 21 GP's per year sounds just about right. What off season?
Richard Branson should take over from Bernie then we would have GP's in really cool places, on an island etc not in the middle of the desert or in some dreadful city. Moscow is next, isn't that going to be fun? All the cars will be stolen from the grid. Except the Marussia Virgins.
The campaign for the natural born classic circuits is on!
Despite all this Eff Won Tweny Leven kicked off in style in Melbourne, it wasn't he most exciting race of all but it was interesting seeing all the new cars. The expected pit stop mania concerning the Pirelli tyres never materialized and the DRS wing never had a huge impact. This is all expected to change in Malaysia however with higher temperatures and longer straights.
Yours in racing
